About Bob Rose
Bob Rose is the Director of Public Relations for the Oakland Athletics. He offers more than 30 years of sports public relations experience, including stints in Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the Olympics and college athletics. As a sophomore journalism major at Pepperdine University, he was appointed Sports Information Director at the school. Then in 1979, he was hired at Stanford University, becoming the youngest SID at a Division I college at age 24. A John Elway Heisman Trophy Campaign later, he ventured into professional football as PR Director of the USFL Los Angeles Express, where he publicized another young quarterback named Steve Young. After subsequent stints in the USFL league office, the NFL then-St. Louis Cardinals, and the World League of American Football league office, he transitioned into the sport of his youth baseball. He served more than nine years as Vice President of Communications for the San Francisco Giants (1993-2001), then accepted an Associate Athletic Director position at nearby Cal (2002-05) before opening his own consulting firm in Berkeley in 2005. Rose joined the Athletics in June of 2008.
